Whether you are an international or domestic student, as Mayor of the City of Gold Coast, it gives me great pleasure to welcome you to our city. Australia’s Gold Coast is not only famous for sun, surf and sand, but the city offers the greatest education choice of any city of its size, with ongoing investment strongly positioning us as an ‘Education City’.
The education and training industry provides employment for more than 28,000 Gold Coast residents, so it is important to have Study Gold Coast – the city’s peak education and training industry body – providing support to both organisations and students alike. I am pleased to say the last decade has been a stunning story of growth in student numbers, facilities, courses and research.
Joining the tens of thousands of local students commencing this year, thousands of international students from 130 countries will call the Gold Coast their ‘second home’.
The physical investment has been matched by growing research excellence at the city’s universities, with significant increase in research funding, the attraction of world class researchers and growth in higher degree students.

Experience Gold Coast’s education stream also operates as a membership organisation and provides an exclusive suite of benefits to over 90 members including Southern Cross University, Griffith University and Bond University as well as TAFE Queensland Gold Coast, numerous language schools and Registered Training Organisations.
Experience Gold Coast’s study sector also provides crucial resources, support and practical information to students including accommodation advice, assistance navigating real estate systems, referrals to legal and community organisations, wellbeing services and social connection. From helping students find affordable housing and part-time work, visa applications and career opportunities, the organisation ensures the best possible experience for students living and studying in a new or foreign city.
Gold Coast Student Hub
During weekdays, Experience Gold Coast also runs the Gold Coast Student Hub in Southport - a unique networking,
collaboration
and study space. With monthly social events, modern workstations, free Wi-Fi and resources, this inclusive facility is the ultimate social, study and support space for domestic and international students.
Experience Gold Coast will continue to educate the community about the value of the sector, provide meaningful student experiences and promote the economic value of the industry
in order to
expand the city's talent pool, attract more employers and add depth to the city's social fabric.
